Our daily 5:15 p.m. radio newscast segment features Local News, Regional & International, Weather, Sports and News in Spanish.  Meanwhile, our weekend 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. news brief provides a short synopsis of current news items, and provides insight into new and upcoming events.

Our young and energetic News Team conducts thorough research and investigations about major issues, and presents accurate information to the public.

The news editor is Alindy Amaya, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s in Communication. She is assisted by Sharon Marin-Lewis, Leticia Guerra, Cecily Cambranes-Burgess, Thamar Jones and Perry ‘Sticks’ Smith.

About KREM
The idea for the KREM Radio station originated in early 1979 while Rufus X and I were visiting New Orleans. There was a New Orleans deejay I liked, by the name of Sister Love, and one day Rufus and his cousin, Sam Wiley, who was our host, showed me the building where the radio station which featured Sister Love was located. It was quite a modest, one flat structure, much smaller than the three story Albert Cattouse Building from where the Belize government monopoly station – Radio Belize – was broadcasting.
